Just before TPM broke the story last night about the Herman Cain campaign buying thousands of dollars of books from his own company, Cain joked that his audience should buy his book before they’re all gone.
“One myth is, that I’m not in this race to win it, that I’m just trying to get my profile up so I can get a T.V. show or a radio show,” Cain said during an appearance with Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio. “If you know Herman Cain, you know that nothing is further from the truth.”
Then he delivered the punchline.
“And if you don’t believe me, I invite you to get a copy of my new book This Is Herman Cain, if you can find one, because they are selling like hotcakes,” Cain said.
