The Republican presidential campaign has turned nasty. Mitt Romney in Florida was accused of “drowning” Newt Gingrich in negative campaign ads. Romney, after winning the Sunshine State’s primary, shrugged off the criticism, saying a competitive primary doesn’t divide but rather “prepares” the candidates.
So Stephen Colbert on Wednesday did his party to prepare the GOP presidential hopefuls by launching a new Twitter hashtag: #preparethem.
He started with Newt: “Newt’s only hope for your vote is if you’ve been in a coma for 20 years, and if you have, he probably divorced you.”
And on to Romney: “Mitt Romney is not a vulture capitalist. Vultures only eat things that are dead.”
