In a press conference on Monday afternoon, Cain accuser Sharon Bialek’s ex-boyfriend, Dr. Victor Zuckerman agreed with her account of how she endured inappropriate advances from the GOP presidential candidate.
Dr. Zuckerman read a prepared statement and took no questions. He was careful to note in his remarks that he is a registered Republican, a pediatrician in good standing, and that although he has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, he is current on all payments and is not seeking financial compensation for speaking out on this matter.
He confirmed that Cain did in fact know who Bialek was, attesting that Bialek met Cain in 1997 during an event in Chicago, IL. He recalled that Bialek was seated next to Cain at lunch and dinner during the event, and had the opportunity to speak to him at length.
Dr. Zuckerman told the press that Bialek had first described Cain as a man of “wit, warmth and great public speaking abilities,” and that he was the one that suggested Bialek contact Mr. Cain a few weeks later when she lost her job at the NRA.
After Bialek set up the meeting with Cain in DC, Dr. Zuckerman said he paid for the transportation and hotel accommodations for Bialek, confirming that he did not pay to upgrade her to a suite.
At this point, Zuckerman confirmed that Bialek told him Cain had “touched her in an inappropriate manner,” during their meeting but said that she had handled it and didn’t want to speak of it further.
At the conclusion of the statement, Gloria Allred stepped to the podium to take questions. Interestingly, she continued to refuse to answer questions about any possible future accusers.
“Don’t we all love surprises?” she asked the gathered reporters.
