If I didn’t know better I would almost think the President is goading GOP backbenchers into a race-drenched tyranny-derp freakout perfectly designed to crush the GOP for yet another generation among non-white voters and alienate a lot of white people who aren’t part of the GOP base.
The James O’Keefian, reporter/freedom fighter Charles Johnson made a stir during the Mississippi Senate runoff with his story purporting to prove that the Cochran campaign paid operatives to buy the votes of African-Americans for $15 a pop. Now the state’s Attorney General, Jim Hood, says the accuser was “paid $2000 [by Johnson] to lie” and he’s investigating what happened.
Hood notes that it is not a crime in Mississippi to pay someone to fabricate a claim about a purported crime. But his office does appear to be investigating where the money came from. So it seems we will likely not be seeing a guerrilla report inside the Mississippi correctional system any time soon.
