The strange case of former Nevada lawmaker Steven Brooks keeps getting stranger. On Thursday, hours after he was expelled from the state Assembly over his bizarre and allegedly violent behavior, Brooks was arrested on the side of a California freeway on suspicion of resisting arrest.
Now, the situation gets even more complicated. A video has surfaced apparently showing the latest arrest and the force police used to make it happen. We’ve posted the video in this AP story on the arrest.
Several conservative Republicans — Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, Marco Rubio and others — are now on the record threatening to snuff out gun control legislation before it ever reaches the Senate floor.
In procedural terms, they’ll object to an up or down vote on the motion to proceed to the Democrats’ background-check based gun bill. It would thus take 60 votes just to debate the legislation, and it’s a fair bet Dems don’t have 60.
