U.S. District Court House for the Eastern District of New York in Brooklyn currently on lockdown because of a letter with suspicious white powder and labeled ‘anthrax.’ The quarantine is apparently restricted to the first floor of the building.
It’s important to note that there has been a rash of these mailing since Boston and the ricin mailings incident. To the best of my knowledge, all have been hoaxes or at least non-toxic substances. So bear that in mind.

One neighbor says a naked woman was seen crawling on her hands and knees in the backyard of the house a few years ago. Another neighbor says he heard pounding on the doors and noticed plastic bags over the windows.
Police showed up at the house both times, the neighbors say, but never went inside.

One of the most surreal and fascinating things about the Cleveland abductions is that the suspect, Ariel Castro, didn’t just live in the general vicinity of the victims’ families. He was connected to them in numerous ways. He was friends with Gina DeJesus’s father and played in bands with her uncle.

There have been several stories today claiming that neighbors called police about strange behavior at Ariel Castro’s home on two or three occasions — naked women on all fours in the backyard, people banging on windows in the house, etc. But Cleveland police are saying that’s not so. They say that only two calls were logged to that home — one from Castro himself and another about Castro but in reference to his work as a school bus driver. Full statement after the jump. Read More
