Did Obamacare Pivot the Race in VA?

We’re looking at the poll numbers, exit polls and final horse race polls out of Virginia this morning to see whether there’s any real evidence that opposition to Obamacare helped Ken Cuccinelli close the margin against Terry McAullife pretty dramatically on election night, as Republicans are now claiming. The evidence for this seems thin on its face. But, as we’re culling the numbers I wanted to take a moment to provide some guide to how to approach the question.

What Of Bloomberg’s Legacy?

Several months ago I got a chance to sit down privately for an off-the-record discussion with now Mayor Elect Bill de Blasio. (Note to self: If you want the freewheeling sit down with the next Mayor of New York, schedule it while he still doesn’t seem like he has much chance of winning.) Since then I’ve considered myself a supporter, vis a vis the other Democratic contenders. I’d say I was a supporter during the general but apparently the election was basically uncontested. Here’s a very negative take on Mayor Bloomberg’s legacy as Mayor we just published at TPMCafe. I confess my own take on Bloomberg’s legacy is considerably more mixed, notwithstanding my excitement about the de Blasio era. But this is a part of the equation, a key aspect of Bloomberg’s tenure that you have to grapple with to understand his dozen years running the city.
