What Am I Missing?

Todd Akin is radioactive and needs to be sent down the memory hole for his statements. Mitt Romney says he needs to go for espousing these outrageous views. And yet, the ‘expert’ who Akin got his ideas from is someone the Romney camp has been courting as a supporter in this very campaign cycle. Indeed, the guy got a private sit-down with Romney during the primaries. This isn’t a story why?

Occam’s Wanker

The campaign cognoscenti all seem to agree that Romney’s birther joke simply couldn’t have been planned or part of a campaign strategy. So I guess that means that this stuff just comes naturally to Mitt?

That’s better?

Mitt’s Latest Revealing Moment — Non-Birther Edition

Mitt Romney drew a lot of attention from campaign watchers Thursday night for a twist he added to his stump speech.

“We’ve got to make it easier for small businesses,” Romney said. “Big business is doing fine in many places — they get the loans they need, they can deal with all the regulation.”

Many took notice because Romney used the same phrasing President Obama did several weeks ago, when Republicans jumped all over him for saying the private sector is doing fine. But the revealing bit came afterwards. Read More

This is the first poll that CNN has released with “likely voters” — just like Fox’s most recent poll did. If you look at the number for registered voters it’s a 9 point Obama margin. Read More

Thought for the Day

Just read …

Helen Taylor, an 81-year-old from Doylestown who wants to vote for Romney, wasn’t aware the voter ID law would prevent her from voting until she was contacted by TPM. She no longer drives, and her licence expired a few years ago after she got into an accident.

Taylor first voted for Dwight Eisenhower after seeing him speak in Philadelphia as a young woman. She’s heard some people talking about the law but didn’t think it would affect her. Taylor doesn’t think the law is necessary.

“I mean, here I am, I’m 80-years-old, I live in a retirement community,” Taylor said. “I definitely want to vote. My whole family always likes politics. My parents were Democrats, they loved Roosevelt and all that. But everybody — well there are a couple Democrats left I think — but almost everybody is a Republican now.”
