Setting aside for a moment all the political ramifications, the new jobs reports contains quite a bit of positive data suggesting the economy didn’t cool off as much since last winter as originally feared and that the heretofore mostly jobless recovery may be generating more jobs at a faster clip than previously known. For breadwinners and serious policymakers, that’s a lot more important than the immediate electoral impact.
Not surprising but there’s already a wave of BLStruthers out there claiming that the White House and Labor Department juiced the numbers to boost President Obama’s reelection prospects.
