So why is the Virginia legislature moving ahead on a voter ID law, despite no evidence of any of the sort of fraud that it seeks to prevent?
Turns out no one really has a good answer.
Mitt Romney should have one sure thing electoral nuclear weapon to use against Rick Santorum — the fact that Obama would crush Santorum and only Mitt stands a chance. The only problem is that it’s not clear that’s true anymore.
According to the TPM Poll Average, Obama now beats Romney by 5.1 percentage points. Obama beats Santorum by 7.2 percentage points. So Romney is a 2.1 percentage points better opponent. By contrast, Obama beats Gingrich by 16.3 percentage points. Big difference.
With Santorum, there’s just not enough to build an argument on.
