Earlier we reported that Rick Santorum’s campaign is running a robocall calling on Michigan Democrats to cross into the GOP primary and vote for Rick Santorum. We’ve now uncovered another robocall campaign pushing the same message — getting Democrats to vote for Santorum tomorrow in order to send a message to Romney. This one is paid for by a GOP political action committee called Freedom’s Defense Fund.
We now have two new polls from Michigan in tonight. One has Santorum up by 1, the other has Romney up by 2. The latter, however, shows a strong move in Santorum’s favor since the pollster last survey four days ago. The upshot is basically a deadlock.
The latest (final?) TPM Poll Average of the race is Romney 37.5%, Santorum 36.9%, Paul 11.6%, Gingrich 8.7%.

The sovereign citizen movement is for many states no longer just a nuisance to be put up with, but a serious law enforcement issue to be confronted.
It’s election day in Michigan. And we seem to be closing on controversy or actually pseudo-controversy about robocalls — specifically, calls from Rick Santorum and others from a GOP PAC encouraging Dems to vote for Santorum to send a message to Romney. Without anything really left to say, this is what it’s come down to.
The final TPM Poll Average Romney 37.3%, Santorum 36.6%, Paul 10.7% and Gingrich 8.8%. In other words, less than a point separate the two front runners.
Mitt Romney just did a press availability and gave a revealing answer when asked about his problems exciting the GOP base.
It’s very easy to excite the base with incendiary comments. We’ve seen throughout the campaign if you’re willing to say really outrageous things that are accusative, attacking of President Obama, that you’re going to jump up in the polls. I’m not willing to light my hair on fire to try and get support. I am who I am.
