From TPM Reader JY …
I haven’t seen any mention of how quickly the administration tried to release as much info as it could to the public vs. Bush’s endless stonewalling when it came to releasing any info that could prove politically damaging. Could you imagine Bush offering up this kind of report to the public without a subpoena?
For weeks TPMMuckraker’s Zack Roth has been reporting on the increasingly bizarre and outlandish abuses of power by Maricopa County, Arizona’s high-profile Joe Arpaio and the evidence of a federal investigation into those abuses. Tonight comes word that two top county officials have been subpoenaed to testify next week before a federal grand jury investigating Arpaio and his office.
One of the most stunning aspects of the Gitmo story is this issue of the recidivism rate.

Rudy, on TV this morning: “We had no domestic attacks under Bush; we’ve had one under Obama.”
I guess he just remembers 9/11 when it suits him, like when he’s running for President. Here’s one of my favorite TPM reels from the 2008 election: Rudy and his constant 9/11 refrain.

In a lot of the criticism of trying Abdulmutallab in the criminal courts, conservatives seem to be having a hard time dealing with the fact that Abdulmutallab reportedly sang like a bird about his plot, who he was working with and a lot more.
Stephen Colbert walks us through how you “connect the dots” when you’re handling intelligence. Watch.
If Michael Steele didn’t exist, TPM would have to invent him. We chronicle the latest from the Steele files:
What could be so important that Michael Steele would go so far as to cancel on an interview with ABC?
