How’s That Post-SNL Life Going?

What were they imbibing (inhaling? injecting? ) at SNL in the late ’80s that turned Dennis Miller and Victoria Jackson into raging conservatives?

Here’s Jackson today singing “There’s a Communist Living In The White House” at a Tax Day tea party rally in Washington. Watch.

And Then There Were Three

Yesterday I noted that Russia and Germany were investigating alleged bribery by HP executives back in 2003 when now-Senate candidate Carly Fiorina was the company’s CEO. The alleged bribery was part of an effort to secure a major contract with the Russian government. Now comes news that the Securities and Exchange Commission is joining the investigation as part of their jurisdiction under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. The Journal says it’s “part of a widening probe into the company’s activities.”

I can’t see how that’s a good thing for Fiorina’s Senate campaign.

Dobbs-Mania Explodes Over Manhattan

TPM’s Versha Sharma was minding her own business walking down 8th Avenue when she stumbled upon a Manhattan Tea Party event featuring Lou Dobbs.

Versha reports in by iPhone: “Lou dobbs was just introduced as the brave man who left CNN when it got too liberal. Intro speaker said ‘my great friend Andrew Breitbart tells me this is a sexual term.’ then ‘anderson Cooper, teabag this!’ crowd screams, crowd going wild for Dobbs.”

Dobbs apparently got the crowd roaring with: “About half of our economy is socialist and no one is talking about it.”

Late Update: Wow, turns out my wife happened upon the same hoe-down when she stopped by the central Post Office late this afternoon (that’s at 31st & 8th). Apparently they had a special Tea Party band entertaining the crowd with songs about not giving way to slavery and socialism. “We’re not your slaves” was apparently the chorus of the total rock out song.

Decidin’ Time

Things seem to be moving pretty fast after Florida Gov. Charlie Crist vetoed that teacher merit pay bill that was such a sacred cow for state Republicans. Now former US Sen. Connie Mack, who is Crist’s longtime political mentor and his campaign chairman, has resigned from Crist’s campaign in response to Crist’s veto.

Kind of hard to see how he keeps running in the Republican primary.

Which as you can see is not going too well.

What Could It Possibly Be?

Obama: “So I’ve been a little amused over the last couple of days where people have been having these rallies, about taxes. You would think they would be saying, “Thank you!” That’s what you’d think!”
