Not Looking Good For Breitbart

The 82-year-old wife of the white Georgia farmer who was supposedly discriminated against some quarter century ago by the black USDA official forced to resign this week — if the video released by Andrew Breitbart’s Big Government and re-run by Fox is to be believed — is now confirming that in fact Shirley Sherrod saved her and her husband’s farm from bankruptcy and is a “friend for life.”

CNN also spoke with the farmer’s wife and with Sherrod. Rachel Slajda has more.

Too Quick A Trigger?

I mentioned before that the NAACP issued a statement on the Shirley Sherrod case. We received it by email late last night. It was also apparently posted on the NAACP site, but doesn’t appear to be there any longer. We’re trying to determine if the NAACP is having second thoughts. NAACP Walking It Back

CNN just read on the air from a new NAACP statement saying that the organization will now investigate the Shirley Sherrod case:

“The NAACP is conducting an investigation into the recent revelations about the situation with Ms. Shirley Sherrod including attempting to speak with Ms. Sherrod, the farmer in question and viewing the full video.”

A state senator with the novelistic name Noble Ellington says Traylor contributed to the break up of his marriage and later married Ellington’s former wife, and Traylor is now romantically involved with Ellington’s (estranged) daughter-in-law.

Getting Awfully Lonely Over There

Even Erick Erickson is having his doubts about Breitbart’s video: “I’m hoping there is more to the video of Shirley Sherrod, because otherwise it seems like the right just got the scalp of a penitent lady.”

Can’t We Just See The Raw Video?

Brietbart Speaks

Andrew Breitbart, who published the video clip of Shirley Sherrod’s speech that led to her forced resignation, tells TPM he doesn’t have the entire video either and that the clip came to him from a source already edited. But he’s seen enough: “I think the video speaks for itself. The way she’s talking about white people … is conveying a present tense racism in my opinion. But racism is in the eye of the beholder.”
