Jeez! Some Clarity, Please …

Just when it looked like Pat Toomey was pulling away with an 8 point lead in today’s Muhlenberg daily tracking poll, I see this new poll out from Ipsos/Reuters showing it all tied at 46% a piece.

Busted?

Democrat Alex Sink apparently caught on camera cheating in last night’s debate in the Florida governor’s race. Take a look.

The Stompage In Kentucky

We have a culprit apparently. A Rand Paul county coordinator has confessed to the AP that he was the stomper at last might’s debate — and apologized. More here.

Where’s The Stomper’s Lawyer?

My working assumption is that Tim Profitt, the Rand Paul volunteer county coordinator, did not consult an attorney before confessing to the AP that he was the stomper — and explaining that the camera angle made the video look worse than the actual stomping was. Confessing to the press was the second bad move Profitt apparently made in the last 18 hours.

TPM Reader DW, who is licensed to practice in Kentucky although he doesn’t live there any longer, checks in:

I am from KY and still licensed to practice law there among other places. (I have lived elsewhere for many years.) 33 years ago I was Ast. Att’y Gen. of KY doing primarily criminal appellate litigation.

Random Press Release Of The Day

Man, the silly things that crowd my inbox:

In Remembrance of Barbara Billingsley’s (June Cleaver) death last week, ThePearlSource.com, the leading online pearl retailer is offering a 15% discount on items that resemble June Cleaver’s signature pearl necklaces on the quintessential 1950s sitcom, “Leave It to Beaver.” The ideal stay-at-home mom was always perfectly coiffed to do chores around the house in a gown, high heels and of course a strand of white pearls, even while vacuuming or baking for her children.

Remember the iconic housewife and get her classic style at ThePearlSource.com! Type in the promotion code: JuneCleaver for a 15% discount on the following styles until November 12th …

Valle on Countdown

I just heard Paul volunteer stomper victim Lauren Valle is going to do her first national TV interview tonight on Olbermann’s show. Our Brian Beutler spoke to her just a short time ago. See our write up here. The key take away so far is that she claims her assailant recognized her as a regular anti-Paul protester and pre-meditated the attack. Presumably she’ll expand on that point tonight.

Paul Vol. Stomper: Sorry If I Had To Get Rough with Her

Paul volunteer stomper, Tim Profitt, issues non-apology apology (a new innovation based on non-denial denial methodology): “I’m sorry that it came to that, and I apologize if it appeared overly forceful, but I was concerned about Rand’s safety.”

What Shall It Profitt Thee

I mentioned earlier that Tim Profitt, Rand Paul’s head stomping volunteer, issued a non-apology apology about his attack on Moveon activist Lauren Valle.

But TPM Reader AF points out that there’s a bit more along these lines. Profitt’s argument seems to be that not only did Valle have it coming but that the whole incident was partly the fault of the police for not proactively arresting Valle before Profitt and his friends had to rough her up and stomp on her head.

The AP says Profitt “criticized police for not stepping in and says other supporters warned authorities about the activist.”
