End of the Line for Big Bird

October 4, 2012 3:33 pm

Mitt Romney’s threat to fire Big Bird got batted around the presidential campaign today. You know that. But I just found out about this other little mystery. @FiredBigBird showed up on Twitter today with an expected hard luck story. And then for some reason Twitter suspended his account. Which got me to thinking: Was this Team Mitt angling to enforce some sort of separation agreement with Big Bird or Sesame Street Inc. pushing some sort of infringement claim? In all seriousness, he first got suspended. Then there was an outcry and he was unsuspended. Obama and Romenesko got into the act. Then there was a story in the Washington Post about his return. And now apparently he’s been resuspended.

I don’t know how these suspensions work exactly, whether there’s some real person doing this or more it’s programmatic. But who will speak for @FiredBigBird?
