Dr. Irwin D. Mandel, RIP

As a headline it might sound almost funny. But Irwin D. Mandel, who just died at 89, was the father of preventive dentistry, a series of practices that now sound almost second nature to most of us (or should) and ground breaking science in immunology with implications far beyond brushing and flossing.
