Don’t Judge!

TPM Reader BG has a word or two for TPM’s foreign correspondents:

I’m ever so slightly irritated by the recent comments from two non-US citizens. Perhaps I’m reading too much into them when I seem to sense the subtle insinuation that this craziness is baffling only to them and not to most of us as well.

DM writes: “As a non-US citizen, I must admit I am baffled, not to say a little frightened at the lack of reason in the current debate.” As a US citizen, I too am baffled and frightened. As a US citizen, I think I have more reason to be frightened, don’t I?

Australian PB writes that allowing people to bring guns to these rallies “just seems [so] stupid to us outsiders.” As if it seems perfectly rational to us insiders? I envy PB, who can afford to shut out this depressing story. I can’t afford to shut it out.

I do appreciate the apology for Rupert Murdoch, but I think Australia owes us much more than an apology for that particular war crime. We’re talking serious reparations.
