RNC on Romney birther crack: Hey it’s true. No one’s ever asked Mitt about his certificate.
Mitt Romney drew a lot of attention from campaign watchers Thursday night for a twist he added to his stump speech.

Many took notice because Romney used the same phrasing President Obama did several weeks ago, when Republicans jumped all over him for saying the private sector is doing fine. But the revealing bit came afterwards. Read More
The campaign cognoscenti all seem to agree that Romney’s birther joke simply couldn’t have been planned or part of a campaign strategy. So I guess that means that this stuff just comes naturally to Mitt?

Thanks again to Josh and the TPM community for the chance to blog about my new book, The Voting Wars. I’ve posted on the fake epidemic of voter fraud, the problem of having partisan and local officials running our national elections, and what we might do to make things better or at least avoid another Bush v. Gore and Florida-style meltdown.
You can follow 2012 election law developments at my usual home, the Election Law Blog. Thanks and take care!

Yesterday I asked our most devoted readers to let us know when and how you started reading TPM. We’ve gotten dozens, possibly hundreds, of responses now. So first things first: thanks! I’m still making my way through them. They’re great to read. But more than that, very helpful in helping us hear learn more about you and your take on the site’s evolution over time.
If you haven’t written in and you’re a longtime reader, please take a moment to. More on our coming plans for our core readers after the jump. Read More
Having watched these folks for years, I can tell you that Todd Akin, Steve King, Michele Bachmann and a handful of others are always the first to hop off when the bus from Crazy Town pulls up at the terminal. She’s the Cookie Monster of the Teh Crazy. How can it be that we haven’t heard from her about this?
