It seems the NRA might be giving the Manchin/Toomey compromise the tacit green light.

Max Baucus has given liberals plenty of reason to question his adventures off the reservation (see his votes for the Bush tax cuts in 2001, for Medicare Part D in 2003, and his drawn out health care reform negotiations in 2009).
His latest involves protracted discussions with House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp about reforming the tax code. As a Republican, Camp has made no secret that he wants any reform to be revenue neutral.

It turns out the Rand Paul/Howard University event was considerably more epic than I understood from initial accounts. Paul basically gave the same ‘Hey, the GOP is the party of Lincoln and Civil Rights and black folk don’t know truth’ speech you hear at CPAC and somehow it didn’t go over well with the Howard University crowd. Just read.
I think Rand Paul’s going to have a real problem backing up this statement.
