Sen. Richard Burr’s (R-NC) ad making an appeal to African-American voters uses stock footage of kids in Africa.
(Possibly subtextual message from Burr that North Carolina doesn’t have enough black people – couldn’t find any to film – and he wants more?)
So there you have it. Last night at a rally in Mississippi, Donald Trump brought the 2016 presidential cycle full circle by embracing the Bush/Rubio “amnesty” agenda which kicked off the nomination process in 2015. ‘Embrace’ can’t have much meaning with someone as promiscuous and erratic as Trump. As I said last night, this should be seen more as an effort to sow confusion than anything else.
Liberals may die tonight because there are limited supplies of those injections they give you for acute schadenfreude toxicity. Ann Coulter has been Donald Trump’s biggest New York City white nationalist supporter. She’s transformed toadying into a militant act. Just today her new book In Trump We Trust was released, a genuflecting, tour de force of leader principle obsequiousness. As many have noted, in the book itself she writes that Trump can do anything, change his position on anything – none of it matters. She and they are that devoted. Everything except shift on immigration.
We’re at 999 new Prime members signed up this month. You could be number 1000! There’s not any prize but it would still be quite awesome. Just click here. It could be you!
Trump just now in a local TV interview about his push to dehumanize reach out to African American voters. Trump: “I think it’s really catching on because I see I’m going up very, very sharply with African American voters.”
The TPM Electoral Scoreboard moves to Clinton 326, Trump 165 as Arizona moves from Toss Up to Leans Trump. Meanwhile the TPM Senate Scoreboard moves to 49-49 as North Carolina moves from Toss Up to Leans GOP.
Back in 2002, the Missouri legislature inadvertantly forgot to make stealing a felony. And now, it’s a huge, huge mess. TPM is first on the story. Read the whole thing here.
Donald Trump’s new campaign chief says Trump’s actually winning because pollsters can’t find the “undercover Trump voter.”
Alt-title: There are still votes to count in Unicorn County.
It now seems that the next several days of the campaign cycle will be about whether anyone can figure out what Donald Trump’s immigration policy is. Mass expulsions, compulsory taco salads, expelling the bad people, letting the models stay, Obama’s awesome after all. Trump’s new mantra is that “we will follow the law,” which – let’s not be ungenerous – is a good place to start but of course tells us nothing. This isn’t a pivot. It’s an effort to sow confusion. Because there’s no tenable place for Trump to be on this issue.
9:05 PM: Watching Trump rally as he tries to explain how he’s jettisoning his entire campaign agenda 80 days out from the election.
