I venture into astrophysics blogging very carefully and only to say that if you’re a layperson like me having trouble understanding today’s announcement — which one scientists told the New York Times “will go down as one of the greatest discoveries in the history of science” — then perhaps this video from Nature will help:

This week we kick off TPM Book Club with sociology professor Jake Rosenfeld’s What Unions No Longer Do. First up, Rosenfeld argues that public sector unions won’t save the labor movement. We have MSNBC reporter Ned Resnikoff responding with his own critique of that argument. We’ll also be joined by Rich Yeselson and Sarah Jaffe this week.
I get told a lot I don’t take enough time off. So I’m taking the collective advice and going on vacation for a week. I’ll be somewhere outside the country with my family for the next week. I leave you in the able hands of our great team.

I just read Daniel Strauss’ article about why Scott Brown doesn’t have history on his side if he runs for the Senate, and I thought a more recent example of how this could play out would be helpful.
