Misinformation Mort

I mentioned earlier that it’s sort of amazing how misinformed Mort Zuckerman seems to be about what’s going on in the Washington fight over taxes and spending. On MSNBC Zuckerman insisted in high dudgeon that congressional Republicans had proposed $250 billion in tax hikes, most of which would be paid for by the wealthiest Americans. Here’s the clip and the facts.

Santorum Plays Palestine Twister

It’s a challenge but Rick Santorum has managed to get significantly to the right of the current Israeli government on the question of the West Bank. Or arguably, it’s to the left. But Santorum is saying not only that all the West Bank is Israel (not a terribly controversial statement on the Israeli hard right) but that all the people living there are Israelis. Said Santorum: “If they want to negotiate with Israeli — with Israelis — all the people who live in the West Bank are Israelis, they’re not Palestinians. There is no ‘Palestinian.’ This is Israeli land.”

Mort d’Mort

I know Mort Zuckerman has always had his critics. But I don’t know that I’ve ever heard him as atomically lame as he is on MSNBC this afternoon. In particular, he just claimed that Super Committee Republicans proposed a plan that had $250 billion of new tax revenues, almost all of which would come from the wealthiest Americans.

I’m sitting here talking to my congressional reporters. And as I thought, that claim is demonstrably false. I wonder what white papers he’s smoking?

He seems just to be parroting claims from Rep. Hensarling (R) and Sen. Toomey (R), but ones where the available numbers simply didn’t back up the claims.

They Can Almost Taste It

I’m still very far from believing Newt Gingrich has any real shot at the GOP nomination. But Dems can almost taste it, rolling out plans to ‘Newter’ Republican candidates across the country.
