Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) has a new ad against Republican nominee Sharron Angle — saying that she sided with wife-abusers.
“Imagine, you’ve been abused by your spouse. You get a restraining order and move your family to Nevada, thinking you’re safe,” says Nevada Patrol Officer Kyle Lopez. “In the state assembly, Sharron Angle voted to prevent restraining orders from other states from being enforced in Nevada.”
Meanwhile, the visuals show a scared-looking woman and her young daughter — being stalked by a faceless man in a car.
Lopez concludes: “It would have made Nevada a safe-haven for domestic abusers. Thankfully, other legislators weren’t so extreme because Sharron Angle sided with the abuser, not the abused.”
As Greg Sargent reports, the Reid campaign is now going to pour through Angle’s record as a state legislator:
The new ad represents something of a shift for the Reid campaign. After relentlessly targeting her with ads featuring her quotes, it will now begin to carpetbomb her voting history, which has gotten comparatively less attention. Says Reid spokesman Kelly Steele: “Her extreme and dangerous legislative record will be fully explored.”
The TPM Poll Average currently puts Reid ahead by 47.7%-44.2%.
