Former Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-GA) is set to announce his presidential campaign on Wednesday.

As the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports: “Rick Tyler, the Gingrich spokesman just sent a message saying candidacy announcement will come Wednesday, via Facebook and Twitter. An interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity will follow that night.” In addition, Gingrich will deliver his first live speech as a candidate at the Georgia GOP convention on Friday.

Interestingly, Fox News had just last week terminated Gingrich’s contract as a commentator, along with fellow potential candidate Rick Santorum, following lower-level suspensions in March. But that isn’t stopping Gingrich from going hunting where the ducks are.

Gingrich’s pre-campaign period has had some missteps. For example, he seemed frequently switch his position on Libya, at all times opposing the shifting actions of the Obama administration. And he also said that his past adultery was, “partially driven by how passionately I felt about this country, that I worked far too hard and things happened in my life that were not appropriate.”
