AFSCME Ad Blasts Blanche Lincoln As ‘Part Of The Problem’ In Washington (VIDEO)

Sen. Blanche Lincoln (D-AR)

AFSCME is running a new $500,000 ad buy in Arkansas against Democratic Sen. Blanche Lincoln, who is being challenged in the primary by Lt. Gov. Bill Halter.

The ad features the kind of harsh rhetoric that we usually expect a major union to use against a Republican incumbent, accusing Lincoln of being part of the problem in Washington, and of working on behalf of big corporations.

“When Blanche Lincoln moved to Washington, D.C., full time, she didn’t just become part of the place. She became part of the problem,” the announcer says. “She took millions from big oil, big banks and insurance companies, and voted to protect their profits. She voted to ship Arkansas jobs overseas, drive up health care costs, and bail out the Wall Street banks. While she spent her days listening to lobbyists, Arkansas families paid the price — jobs lost, homes foreclosed. Sen. Lincoln left Arkansas years ago. Maybe it’s for Arkansas to let her go.”

The TPM Poll Average currently gives Lincoln the lead in the primary, but the incumbent is below the crucial 50% mark: Lincoln 46.0%, Halter, 30.3%.
