Prominent white nationalist Richard Spencer lauded President Donald Trump’s statement commemorating International Holocaust Memorial Day that failed to mention Jews as a “de-Judification” of the Holocaust, TPM’s Esme Cribb reported. Spencer called the White House statement “especially Trumpian” for its “de-Judification” of the Holocaust in a post on his website. He argued that was “utterly defensible,” going on to claim it is “unimaginable for Jewish activists” to see the Holocaust, during which 6 million Jews were killed by the Nazis, treated as “just another genocide.”

Josh Marshall: “Donald Trump’s ‘war’ with CNN has been the most consistent media-bashing theme from him for the last 18 months. But it is as phony as they come. CNN has quite simply been more compliant with Trump than any other news organization. This isn’t a knock at the journalists. Some of them recently have been quite good. And I wouldn’t say, in general, that they’ve been worse than their cable news colleagues. But from the business and programming side they’ve been the most accommodating. Think about it. What other network has a permanent list of pro-Trump pundits on payroll?”

From a TPM Prime member: “What difference does it make if the Democrats “force” the Republicans to kill the filibuster for the Supreme Court? If the calculus is always, “We can’t vote against that guy, because the Republicans might kill off the filibuster”, then the filibuster is already serving no useful purpose — and the Republicans will use it to prevent Democratic appointments — no matter how moderate or reasonable — when the Democrats again gain power. The Dems can decide that this is not the guy over whom to test the issue — they can wait for the next nomination if another Justice leaves the court and, unfortunately, there’s a good chance that it will happen before Trump leaves office. But make no mistake — the Republicans won’t show any concern about blocking the next Democratic nominee. If the Republicans go nuclear, the Dems can simply point out that all of the table-thumping that preceded that decision was a stage show, and that the Republicans could have confirmed him all along.”
