The Karl Rove-founded Crossroads GPS and American Crossroads rolled out three new TV ads Thursday in key Senate races.
One ad in Indiana, where conservative state Treasurer Richard Mourdock ousted Republican Sen. Richard Lugar in the GOP primary, goes on the attack against the Democratic nominee, Rep. Joe Donnelly.
“Since Joe Donnelly went to Washington, America’s debt has increased $3.5 billion per day –Â up $7 trillion in less than six years. How? Donnelly has voted for trillions of Barack Obama’s wasteful spending. For Obama’s $1.7 trillion health care law. For his wasteful $1 trillion stimulus. Donnelly even voted to raise the debt limit four times. Tell Donnelly, stop spending and cut the debt. Support the New Majority Agenda, at NewMajorityAgenda.org.”
The other two ads target Senate seats currently held by Democrats. The Montana ad, attacking Democratic Sen. Jon Tester:
“Wonder how America’s debt has nearly doubled since Jon Tester went to Washington? Instead of being an independent voice for Montana, Tester’s voted for Barack Obama’s policies 95 percent of the time. For Obama’s trillion-dollar health care takeover. For the failed trillion-dollar stimulus. And voted to raise the debt limit six times — fora total of $6 trillion. Tell Tester: stop spending money we don’t have, cut the debt. Support the New Majority Agenda, at NewMajorityAgenda.org.”
And there is one positive ad in New Mexico, via American Crossroads, to promote the Senate candidacy of former Rep. Heather Wilson, who won her primary Tuesday. Wilson is running in the open seat race to replace retiring Democratic Sen. Jeff Bingaman, against Democratic nominee Rep. Martin Heinrich.
“What kind of senator do you want? How about an Air Force veteran, and mother of three? Someone who has already worked to cut wasteful Washington spending, and keep taxes low. Who has an independent record of standing up to her own party. In the Senate, Heather Wilson will stop the reckless spending, and fight for good jobs. Heather Wilson for Senate — an independent voice for change.”
In response, Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee spokesman Matt Canter said: “Voters in Montana, Indiana, and New Mexico understand that Karl Rove and special interests are investing in Denny Rehberg, Richard Mourdock and Heather Wilson because they back an anti-middle class agenda that will cut Medicare benefits, privatize Social Security, and provide billions in giveaways to big oil companies and the wealthiest Americans.”
