Jon Stewart Looks At ‘Cream Of The Crap’ Down-Ballot Republicans

While the 2012 presidential candidates and their running mates are not without flaws, they’re by far the “cream of the crop” Washington has to offer, Jon Stewart said Thursday. So with a new segment — “You magnificent bastards” — Stewart took a look at the down-ballot Republican candidates, or, “the cream of the crap.”

Stewart started with Todd “legitimate rape” Akin, who said over the summer that the female body has biological defenses to prevent pregnancy after a rape.

“That’s Todd Akin on the vagina’s magical powers,” Stewart said. “Yes, the vagina can repel rape sperm. It can turn ordinary rocks into beautiful gems in minutes.”

And on to Joe Walsh, a tea party congressman from Illinois, who accused his war hero opponent — a double amputee — of talking too much about her military service.

And say hello to Rep. Paul Broun (R-GA), who is running unopposed. He recently said evolution and the big bang are “lies straight from the pit of hell.”

“How do these fucking crazy people make it to the national stage?” Stewart asked. “Easy. By being less crazy than the guys on the state level.”
