The Affordable Care Act’s critics have likened it to all manner of evils, from Nazi appeasement to slavery.

But a state senator from North Carolina on Sunday went for a trifecta when he tweeted that the health care law caused damage worse than the toll caused by “Nazis, Soviets & terrorists combined.”

“Justice Robert’s pen & Obamacare has done more damage to the USA then the swords of the Nazis, Soviets & terrorists combined,” read a tweet sent from Republican state Sen. Bob Rucho’s account. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts delivered the 2012 ruling that upheld the constitutionality of the Affordable Care Act.

He then defended his choice of words after receiving several heated responses.

Rucho did not return requests from local media for comment on or clarification of the tweet.
