Chris Christie may be in it to win it, but Republican National Committee Chair Reince Priebus believes the GOP should have more lofty goals.
“We’re not here to win at any cost. We’re here to share our thoughts and values,” Priebus said at a party meeting in Boston, Mass. Friday, before a scheduled vote on his plan to bar CNN and NBC from parterning with the organization for 2016 presidential debates unless those networks scuttle planned film productions about Hillary Clinton.
The New Jersey governor, speaking before the same meeting during a closed-door session Thursday, challenged his party to do whatever is necessary to win elections.
“See I’m in this business to win,” Christie said. “I’m in it to win. I think that we have some folks who believe that our job is to be college professors. College professors are fine I guess. Being a college professor is — they basically spout out ideas but nobody ever does anything about them. For our ideas to matter we have to win. Because if we don’t win, we don’t govern. And if we don’t govern, all we do is shout into the wind.”
