The powerful attorney who’s representing one of the women filing a sexual harassment lawsuit against San Diego Mayor Bob Filner dismissed the Democrat’s announcement Friday that he’ll enter counseling as a “ploy to try to buy time.”
Gloria Allred told CNN that Filner needs to resign immediately.
“What I would say is what I want is the mayor to resign. I think that this is a ploy to try to buy time,” Allred said. “He has damaged many, many women. If it is true that all of the allegations that these women have made and this is not about just apologizing to him, it is about the harm that he’s done. He has disgraced the city of San Diego. He needs to resign and he needs to resign right now.”
Allred is representing Irene McCormack Jackson, the mayor’s former communications director who was the first woman to go public with her accusations against Filner.
