Poll: Weiner, Spitzer Top Dem Primary Field In New York

Former Rep. Anthony Weiner tops all Democratic candidates in New York City’s hotly contested mayoral race, and former Gov. Eliot Spitzer holds a 48 to 33 percent lead over Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer in the Democratic primary race for city comptroller, according to a new Quinnipiac survey released Monday.

Weiner leads City Council Speaker Christine Quinn by 25 to 22 percent, boosted by a sizable advantage among black voters. The poll surveyed 738 New York City registered Democrats from July 8 – 14, with a margin of error of +/- 3.6 percentage points.
