McConnell Calls Opponent’s Decision To Run Against Him ‘Courageous’

Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) called Democratic Secretary of State Alison Lundergan’s decision to run against him for the Kentucky Senate seat in 2014 “courageous.”

“Accepting the invitation from countless Washington liberals to become President Obama’s Kentucky candidate was a courageous decision by Alison Lundergan Grimes and I look forward to a respectful exchange of ideas,” McConnell said in a statement, according to ABC News.

Grimes, 34, has served as Kentucky’s secretary of state since 2012, and is considered the first big-name Democrat to announce her candidacy.
