Paula Deen has lost both sponsors and respect for her use of racial epithets, but the fallout has evidently not extended to the southern celebrity chef’s book sales.

Sales for her upcoming cookbook, “Paula Deen’s New Testament,” climbed to the top of the Amazon books best-sellers list this week for pre-orders, Reuters reported. The book is due out on Oct. 15. Deen’s other book, “Southern Cooking Bible,” is currently second on the list.

Deen has drawn scrutiny not only for her use of racial slurs, but also her response to the flap. She released an apology video last Friday, only to pull it from YouTube shortly thereafter and replace it with a new one. During her teary-eyed interview on the “Today” show on Wednesday — nearly a week after she canceled on the NBC morning program — Deen told host Matt Lauer that she didn’t know if most African-Americans are offended by the N-word.
