The Senate observed a moment of silence shortly after convening Monday afternoon to honor Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ), who died early in the morning at the age of 89.
“I have a heavy heart,” Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) said shortly afterward, beginning his emotional eulogy of the World War II veteran and longtime senator.
