Dr. Anne-Marie Slaughter has been selected as the next president of the nonpartisan think tank the New America Foundation, the group’s board of directors announced on Wednesday.

“Anne-Marie Slaughter is a creative, inspiring thinker who has played a critical role in the institution’s success as a board member, and we are thrilled for her to lead New America in what promises to be an exceptional period for both the institution and society,” said David Bradley, chairman of the Board’s search committee, in a statement.

Slaughter, a professor and former Dean of the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton, will be replacing outgoing president Steve Coll who stepped down on March 31. Slaughter also formerly served as the first female Director of Policy Planning at the State Department from 2009 to 2011, which was prominently featured in “Why Women Still Can’t Have It All,” her Atlantic article that took the web by storm.
