An office shooting in Phoenix that happened Wednesday while the Senate was holding a hearing on gun violence also happened to take place in the same building that houses an office of former U.S. Sen. Dennis DeConcini’s (D-AZ) law firm.
A managing shareholder at the law firm told TPM that employees at the Phoenix office are “safe and accounted for,” and the former senator was nowhere near the building at the time. Lisa Anne Smith, who works in the firm’s Tucson, Ariz. office, said she was told the shooting took place in another part of the building. The firm’s website says DeConcini is retired, but his name remains on the front door.
DeConcini McDonald Yetwin & Lacy, P.C, has offices in Phoenix, Tucson, Scottsdale and Flagstaff. The Phoenix office is located at 7310 North 16th St.
