The New York Times is seeking to eliminate 30 newsroom jobs through voluntary buyouts, the Times reported on Monday. The cuts are aimed at newsroom managers, but some reporters and editors will also be offered buyouts.

Executive editor Jill Abramson said in a letter to staff that if the buyouts aren’t accepted voluntarily she will have to lay off employees.
