Democratic candidate Richard Carmona apologized on Friday for a joke he made the day before at a debate in the Arizona Senate race in which he called the male moderator “prettier” than Candy Crowley, the female journalist who moderated a presidential debate earlier in the week.
Carmona told Politico in a statement: “I tried to tell a joke to lighten the mood in a debate. I shouldn’t have, and I’m sorry.”
