Democratic Rep. Chris Murphy is set to face Republican former World Wrestling Entertainment CEO Linda McMahon in Connecticut’s Senate contest this fall.
With 28 percent of precincts reporting, Murphy had 68 percent of the vote in the Democratic primary over former Secretary of State Susan Bysiewicz with 32 percent, according to the Associated Press. McMahon, the Republican Senate nominee in 2010, had 76 percent of the vote in the Republican primary, over former Rep. Christopher Shays, who had 24 percent.
Murphy is favored to win the seat of retiring independent Sen. Joe Lieberman. The PollTracker Average shows Murphy leading McMahon 50 percent to 42 percent.
