Former Maine Gov. Angus King, an independent, has officially announced that he is running for U.S. Senate, to succeed retiring Republican Sen. Olympia Snowe.
The Associated Press reports:
He said he won’t be beholden to political parties.
“Nobody will be able to tell me how to vote except for the people of Maine,” he said.
King made his announcement after delivering a lecture at Bowdoin College in Brunswick.
