Rush Limbaugh doesn’t sound too upset with Rick Santorum’s use of robo-calls to court Michigan Democrats, saying that they were “encouraging Democrats who support him to vote for him,” not a form of trickery. He blamed Mitt Romney’s campaign struggles for his complaints that the calls constituted a “dirty trick.”
“So Romney for the first time in the entire process is crying about drity tricks,” Limbaugh said. “And a lot of, like Newt and Rudy and Fred Thompson from 2008 are probably chuckling privately to themselves because they’ve all been victimized by the tough campaigning that Romney is famous for.”
He went on to say Romney’s struggle against the less funded, much-derided Santorum was a sign that he may be far less electable than his supporters suggest.
“Let’s face it folks, by all that’s reasonable, by all that’s logical, Santorum shouldnt be anywhere near where he is, much less in Michigan,” he said. “Santorum shouldn’t even be within striking distance within Michigan, but he is and he could win it there. He could pull it off.”
Added Limbaugh: “If [Romney] can’t beat Santorum. where is it written that he’s electable automatically over Obama? Or is that an unfair question?”
