I think we get the message …
Following up on yesterday’s rib-splitting news that Jane Harman’s team for the Capital Challenge Road Race has been named “Tapped Out”, Harman’s office is now looking to make more headlines on the subject. Earlier this afternoon, it sent a press release reading:
HARMAN’S “TAPPED OUT” WINS BEST TEAM NAME HONORS AT ANNUAL CAPITOL HILL RACE
~ Lawmaker says “our sense of humor is intact” ~
Washington, DC – Congresswoman Jane Harman (D-CA) released the following statement after her team, “Tapped Out,” received the “Best Team Name Award” at today’s annual 5K ACLI Capital Challenge:
Harman said: “I am challenging CQ’s Jeff Stein, who got my age wrong and denigrated my previous race time in a recent blog post, to a road race. Bring it on, Jeff!”
Added Harman: “Clearly, our sense of humor is intact.”
Harman has won honors for “Best in Age Group” three times, and is breathlessly awaiting this year’s results.
We’re told twice that Harman’s “sense of humor is intact.” That’s just in case we missed it yesterday when the punning moniker was announced, and a Harman spokesman told CQ: “We still have a sense of humor.”
We get it. Their sense of humor is intact, if lame.
It was recently reported, of course, that Harman was picked up on a government wiretap (get it?) discussing a possible quid pro quo with a suspected Israeli agent.
Given that Harman just reportedly hired Lanny Davis as a “media adviser” to handle the flap over the report, we wondered whether he might be advising her to make clear that her sense of humor is intact. A Harman spokesman didn’t immediately respond when we asked.
Either way, it’s duly noted. Harman’s sense of humor: Intact.
