The House Jan. 6 Committee’s holding its fifth hearing today at 3:00 p.m. ET. It’s the DOJ-centric hearing that got postponed last week. 

Today’s session, which will be led by Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL), will scrutinize Trump’s attempt to use the federal government’s top law enforcement agency as a personal weapon in his desperate bid to cling to power after the 2020 election, with a special focus on the infamous Jeffrey Clark scheme.

    Mostly in private, Republicans loyal to Mr. Trump have complained for months that they have no insight into the inner workings of the committee as it has issued dozens of subpoenas and conducted interviews behind closed doors with hundreds of witnesses.

    But the public display this month of what the panel has learned — including damning evidence against Mr. Trump and his allies — left some Republicans wishing more vocally that Mr. Trump had strong defenders on the panel to try to counter the evidence its investigators dig up.

    Nothing affirms the J6 Committee’s success more than Repuglican regret.

    I applaud both that success as well as Repuglican angst and await further revelations in the full expectation the Committee will amply supply them as Repug leadership desperately hurls chaff while accusing each other of stupidity.
