Clinton on Iran Engagement: ‘I Want To Be In The Middle Of It’

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton

In a foreign policy speech just now, Hillary Clinton criticized the Bush administration for refusing to engage directly with Iran.

“I think we outsourced our policy to Iran” over the past eight years, she said. “I want to be in the middle of it, to make our own judgements.”

Clinton said she believes direct engagement with Iran will strengthen America’s position among other countries who are concerned with Iran’s nuclear program.

Her remarks came during a major speech to the Council on Foreign Relations outlining the administration’s foreign policy agenda.
