President Joe Biden is gearing up to tap Cindy McCain, the wife of late Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), as his first GOP appointee in his administration that requires a Senate confirmation, according to Politico.
The administration is reportedly vetting McCain for an ambassadorship to the U.N. World Food Programme in Rome, Italy.
Biden had touted McCain’s endorsement during the presidential election last fall before he defeated Republican incumbent Donald Trump in Arizona.
McCain said in her endorsement that between Biden and Trump, who frequently attacked her husband, the Democrat was the only candidate “who stands up for our values as a nation.”
“Joe and I don’t always agree on the issues, and I know he and John certainly had some passionate arguments, but he is a good and honest man,” McCain tweeted at the time. “He will lead us with dignity.”

Oh, the AZ GOP will most certainly censure her for SOMEthing before her departure, but she’ll be a fine ambassador. Not worried about this appointment. Joe worked closely with her husband on stuff and I’m sure he and she know each other reasonably well.
