Former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows has joined the Conservative Partnership Institute, a group run by former South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint that serves as a networking platform for conservatives, the organization said.

In a statement announcing the news on Wednesday, the former White House official was lauded for his efforts alongside “President Trump, who accomplished an astonishing record of conservative policy victories.”

Meadows, who is reportedly still in contact with former President Trump and according to Axios, has been advising him before his impeachment trial, will now work behind the curtain to bolster fresh conservative lawmakers who could be cast in a similar mold to the likes of Sens. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Josh Hawley (R-MO) — lawmakers that CPI dutifully defended in the aftermath of the riot.

In a Jan. 14 statement issued by the Conservative Action Project and signed by CPI leadership, the conservative group continued to prop up false claims of election fraud, standing by the senators’ “legitimate concerns about election irregularities.”

Meadows, along with other former Trump aides, had reportedly had a hard time finding work after leaving the White House. Meadows was reportedly considering a gig at the Trump Organization, due to a lack of options.

DeMint, who serves as CPI’s chair, described Meadows as “one of the most widely respected conservative leaders in country,” in a statement announcing Meadows’ appointment as a senior partner.

“We couldn’t be more excited for him to join our team to support and build the conservative movement,” DeMint added.

Meadows had previously founded the House Freedom Caucus whose chair, Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ), had been instrumental in amplifying false election fraud claims in his own battleground state of Arizona before the deadly Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

The news of Meadows’ new job comes as DeMint’s team has been focused on placing conservatives in prime spots in the Trump administration and Capitol Hill, and has touted itself as playing a role in efforts to “unite the conservative movement.”

“Often flying under the radar, no group has played a more critical role in helping conservatives stay true to their principles in the hostile Washington swamp,” Meadows said of CPI.  I’m thrilled to join the CPI Team working with conservative leaders from around the country to stop the advance of socialist policies and fearlessly defend American values.”
