Hope Hicks departed the White House for the last time on Tuesday, according to CNN. Hicks’ departure was reportedly planned before the deadly insurrection at the Capitol last week and the House’s vote to impeach the President for “incitement of insurrection.”

Hicks’ plans to depart the White House were reported amid a slew of Trump administration officials resigning in the aftermath of the President inciting his supporters before they stormed the Capitol. According to Bloomberg News, Hicks told colleagues that her resignation is unrelated to the Capitol riots.

Hicks had a reputation of being one of Trump’s closest and most influential aides. But Hicks hasn’t been at the White House in recent weeks after she refuted the President’s voter fraud falsehoods, according to CNN. Hicks reportedly called for Trump to stop pursuing legal battles contesting election results unless he had “competent lawyers in place.”

In 2018, Hicks resigned as White House communications director and worked as the chief communications officer at Fox Corporation, before ultimately returning to the West Wing in early 2020 as a counselor to the President.

Now it’s her turn to hire a good celebrity lawyer (Susan Estrich?), write a book that will be the hot topic of discussion for around 3 days, then fade into the irrelevancy she richly deserves.
