Biden’s Chief Of Staff Says McConnell Still Hasn’t Spoken To President-elect

WASHINGTON, DC - MARCH 10: Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) speaks to reporters following the Senate Republican policy luncheon which both President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence attended on March 10, 2020 in Washington, DC. Ron Klain, whom President-elect Joe Biden has tapped as his chief of staff, stated on Thursday night that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has still not spoken to the Democrat amid President Donald Trump’s corrupt attacks on the election results.

In his first interview since his appointment, Klain told MSNBC anchor Lawrence O’Donnell that Biden had been speaking to “some” GOP senators and governors.

“He has not spoken, though, to Senator McConnell,” the Biden aide said. “I think Senator McConnell still seems to be insisting somehow that President Trump won the election. He didn’t.”

Klain said there would be a “time and place” for the two men, who worked together in the Senate back when Biden served as a senator of Delaware, to have discussions.

“They obviously need no introduction to one another,” Klain told O’Donnell. “They have worked together. They have fought each other, worked together and fought each other over the decades.”

“They’ll have a working relationship when the time comes, so I think that will all proceed forward in a very fine, efficient way,” he added.

Earlier this week, McConnell bolstered Trump’s refusal to accept his defeat, which has involved the President falsely claiming voter fraud and hurling a series of lawsuits at swing states that have been largely laughed out of court.

Really no urgent reason for them to speak right now. I am sure Joe understands the difficult position Trump has put MM in.

  4. McConnell may not like the idea that a President from the other party knowns him so well.
